At AXE, we’re all about helping you feel your best. And let’s be honest, when you smell good, confidence hits different. That’s what rizz is all about. It’s not just a trend, it’s a vibe. Rizz is that mix of presence, personality, and effortless charm that makes people lean in.
We wanted to know who’s really got it. So we surveyed 2,000 Americans aged 16 to 29 to find out where rizz lives, what it looks like, and who’s leading the pack.
LA came out on top as the rizz capital of the US. But there’s more. The data reveals which careers naturally carry confidence, the traits that give main character energy, and the celebrities people say just have it.

Top 5 rizz boosters for instant confidence
1. Outfit/OOTD
2. Friends being around
3. The way I smell
4. Feeling physically fit
5. Knowing others at the event
Even the most confident people need a little help in the charisma department sometimes, but what do 18-30s turn to for an extra rizz boost? Physical appearance ranked the most important for survey respondents, with more than 1 in 3 18-30s claiming a slick OOTD was the key to improved smoothness, and over 1 in 4 citing a great scent as upping their game. A little help from your friends was also important for what some are calling the anxious generation, with ride-or-dies in the room 25% more likely to have 16-19 year olds feeling themselves than older age groups.
Gen Z’s Rizz Recommendations.
While 29% of 18-30 year olds surveyed cited not being confident enough as the biggest barrier to rizz, less than 1 in 4 of the 16-23 age group said they felt very confident in general, with that number dropping further to just 19% among 16-19s. That number dropped further in romantic or flirty situations, with just 1 in 5 claiming a high level of confidence in front of their crush.
We asked those strutting their stuff to share their top advice for boosting rizz with their fellow Gen Zs in their own words.
“It means being comfortable in your body: take care of every aspect of your health, feel confident in yourself and don’t be afraid of being yourself around others. Treat people respectfully and know when to leave someone be.” – AXE Rizz Survey Participant
The answers all came back to one theme: confidence with good vibes. “Making me laugh is the best way,” one said, while another kept it real with, “Be confident in oneself and seek validation only from oneself.” Confidence came up a lot, but so did balance: “Have both confidence and humility in interaction with others.” And it’s not all about looks: “I don’t think looks really affect your rizz… it’s just the way you put yourself together like scent, vocab, hair, outfit.” At the end of the day, real rizz means, “Put a smile on someone’s face!”
