Are AXE products gluten free?
We do not specifically test our products for the presence of gluten, a sticky protein found in some grains such as wheat. Gluten may be present in products that contain derivatives of wheat, oat, rye, and barley.
In labeling our products, our company follows the guidelines established by the International Nomenclature for Cosmetics Ingredients (INCI). Therefore, if we use an ingredient derived from a grain such as wheat, oat, rye and / or barley, those names will appear on the label, i.e. 'Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein'. If you see this name on the label, the material was derived from wheat, so the product may contain gluten.
If you have further questions regarding specific ingredients, we recommend consulting with your physician as to whether your exposure to grain derivatives from the use of personal care products may cause you unfavorable symptoms.
Do AXE products contain animal by-products?
Any product Containing Glycerin and/or Stearic Acid contains animal by-products. Stearic acid comes from beef tallow and Glycerin may be either synthetic or natural which is derived from beef tallow or coconut.

Is dry spray an antiperspirant or deodorant?
It’s both! Dry Spray is an antiperspirant that provides wetness protection and a deodorant that keeps you smelling fresh all day long.
Is dry spray the same as a body spray?
No, Dry Spray Antiperspirant is different from body sprays. It is designed for use in the underarm only and provides both wetness and odor protection. A body spray does not provide wetness protection.
What exactly is the 'AXE' Effect?
The AXE Effect is probably the tagline the brand historically is most known for, however, it’s important to note that the AXE Effect doesn’t mean that our products are a magic potion that will make girls swarm over a guy when he walks into the room. While AXE grooming products can help guys look, smell and feel great, there is only so much we can do, the rest is up to guys themselves – we enable anyone to Find Your Magic.
What is AXE's policy on animal testing?
We use a wide range of non-animal approaches to assess the safety of our products for consumers. We do not test our products on animals and are committed to ending animal testing. Our leading-edge research has one clear purpose: to continue to develop new non-animal approaches that can guarantee that our products are safe, without any need for animal testing.
Occasionally, when there are no suitable non-animal approaches available, some of the ingredients we use have to be tested; and some governments test our products on animals as part of their regulatory requirements. We are actively working with these governments, other scientists and NGOs, to put in place alternative methods.
Over the past 30 years we have invested millions of Euros in research into non-animal approaches for assessing consumer safety. We have a team of internationally recognized scientific leaders in alternatives to animal testing in Unilever, who collaborate with the best research teams across the world on this important topic, so that new non-animal methods that start as ideas in our research laboratories are accepted by regulatory authorities and become standards for the industry.
For more information about our position and progress in developing non-animal approaches, see our website: Developing alternative approaches to animal testing
What is AXE's policy on recycling and the environment?
Because we recognize the importance of preserving natural resources, AXE and Unilever are engaged in a series of programs designed to address a number of issues concerning the environment. These issues range from biodegradability to recycling. Our company actively participates in industry-wide coalitions and trade associations which are working toward solutions to solid waste problems.
We have established a center devoted entirely to the development and testing of new packaging materials and concepts. Company efforts to reduce solid waste include recycling projects, packages which can be recycled and use of recycled materials. Our scientists are also conducting studies on a broad range of product formulas and ingredients to ensure their environmental compatibility.
What's the difference between a deodorant and an antiperspirant?
While perspiration by itself does not have any odour, when it meets the bacteria that are always present on your skin, odour develops. A deodorant helps stop that odour, while an antiperspirant helps stop the perspiration itself. By preventing wetness, an antiperspirant also acts as a deodorant. A deodorant, on the other hand, works by reducing body odor and has little or no antiperspirant activity. To learn more visit http://www.antiperspirantsinfo.com/en/antiperspirants-and-deodorants
